Semi-private dog training classes

IMG_6337.jpg

These semi-private classes are built for modern dog parents who want effective support, compassionate methods, and real-life results.

Choose the class that fits your goals, join me virtually for two group sessions, and then we'll meet 1-on-1 in person to bring everything together.

Upcoming Classes:

  • Reactivity Reset starts 6/23

  • Life Skills 101 starts 8/11

 How the Semi-Private Classes Work:

These aren’t your average group classes.

  • Each class is intentionally capped at just 6 dogs so you get focused support, live coaching, and a chance to ask questions as you go.

  • You'll join two small-group virtual sessions (live on Google Meet) where you’ll learn core concepts and practice real-world skills with guidance in real time.

  • Then, we’ll bring it all together with a private in-person session tailored to your unique needs.

This hybrid format gives you the clarity of group learning and the personalization of 1:1 support—so you're never left wondering what to do next.

You can enroll in Semi-Private Classes for

ONLY $250!

Upcoming Live Classes

Reactivity Reset - June 23rd and 30th

IMG_1406.jpg

For dogs who bark, lunge, or overreact on leash—and the people who want to help them feel safer in the world.

This class goes deeper than “fixing the behavior.” You’ll learn what reactivity really is, why it happens, and how to build long-term emotional safety for your dog (and yourself).

Together, we’ll cover:

  • What reactivity really is and how to recognize it early

  • How to use management and environment to your advantage

  • Foundation behaviors that actually hold up under pressure

  • Movement patterns, training games, and play-based strategies

  • How to work with your dog’s instincts—not against them

Your in-person 1:1 session is tailored to your real-life struggles—whether that’s navigating neighborhood walks, working near triggers, or getting a plan in place that finally makes sense.

Life Skills 101 - August 11th and 18th

Perfect for first-time dog parents or anyone bringing home a new rescue.

This class lays the groundwork for communication, confidence, and a calmer daily life with your dog. You’ll learn how to teach the behaviors you actually need—without nagging, guessing, or giving up.

Together, we’ll cover:

  • Marker cues that unlock communication

  • Your dog’s daily needs (and how to meet them)

  • Foundations like recall, leash skills, and polite greetings

  • Confidence-building games and enrichment ideas

  • Troubleshooting common household challenges

Your in-person 1:1 session is fully customizable to what you need most—whether that’s leash manners, jumpy greetings, or help settling into a new routine.

Hey, I'm Mattison

I’m a multi certified dog trainer and behavior coach and I specialize in virtual training for dogs with big feelings. My absolute favorite thing is to help people like you understand your complex dog better.

My business, Freed by Training, is built on second chances.  I work with 1:1 clients all over the world on mostly moderate to severe behavior cases, but I also consult with local rescues on transitional training and provide low-cost training resources on my Instagram and Patreon. Two of the things I’m most passionate about teaching are: muzzle conditioning and cooperative care!

FAQ's

How do the semi-private classes work?

Each class includes two live virtual group sessions (on Google Meet) and one in-person private session. You’ll start with group learning, then get customized support during your 1:1. It’s the best of both worlds—real-time coaching plus personalized help.

Do I need to attend the live virtual classes?
Live attendance is encouraged so you can ask questions and get the most out of the experience. But if you can’t make it, no worries—recordings will be sent to all participants within 24 hours.

Where do the in-person sessions happen?
Your 1:1 training session will be held in your home or a nearby location we’ll agree on together. This service covers West Chester and surrounding areas (Downingtown, Exton, Malvern). If you’re unsure whether you’re in range, just reach out and ask!

Can I enroll if I am not local to West Chester, PA?

Yes! I have decided to create a fully virtual option. If you are not local to West Chester, PA, your 1:1 private lesson will be an hour long meeting via Google Meet for a live, private training experience.

What kind of training methods do you use?
All training is compassionate and science-based. We’ll focus on building trust, understanding your dog’s behavior, and teaching skills through clear communication and reinforcement—not punishment.

What if I have multiple dogs?
Please register each dog individually and reach out before enrolling multiple dogs so we can make sure it’s the right fit for your household and schedule.

What happens after I sign up?
You’ll receive a short intake form and waiver immediately after registration. Once that’s submitted, you’ll get all the details for your virtual sessions and instructions for booking your in-person session.
